What to Do on Christmas Day in Lagos Nigeria

It's the most wonderful time of the Year...and yet, you have run out of ideas of what to do.. Worry not. Here are some ideas of things to do on Christmas day. I hope they are useful to you. Merry Christmas!!
You can choose to:
  • Open your Christmas presents.
  •
  • Go to Church.
  •
  • Come back and cook like a Jackie and entertain guests till 12 am (26th).
Or you could:
  • Read Buhari's speech if you like.
  •
  • Watch the Queen's Annual Christmas Speech.
  •
  • Go to the Movies.
  •
  • If you are in Lagos, enter BRT aka LagBus, aka State Run Public Bus Scheme, for the first time. Governor Ambode (Ambo) our guy, has given a go ahead for FREE BRT buses from 6 am to 10 pm on Christmas day.
  •
  • Volunteer at a Charity.
  •
  • Go to the beach (avoid Elegushi, don't ask me why).
  •
  • Play a friendly match with your neighborhood peeps.
  •
  • Visit historical places within the State like Badagry, even Ebute Metta has some hidden treasures, Freedom park, Fela's shrine and so on.
  •
  • Go out and have fun sitting on Father Christmas aka Santa Claus' lap (Agbaya!).
  • Take a quick trip to Abeokuta just for the fun of it.
  •
  • Visit some theme parks (Agbaya).
  •
  • Go on a wee-ride to Banana Island, Victoria Garden City, Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA, Nicon, Chevron, to see how those rich people live, and, "claim your future properties by faith" (remember, if Olokpa catch you, DO NOT quote this blog as an inspiration O Y O).
  •
  • Visit your family, and friends, so that, they do the cooking and cleaning up.
  •
  •  Wait for 6pm to go and buy suya from that man near Eko Hotel, or the one at Glover Ikoyi (I heard it's great!).
  •
  • You could also visit those places you always wanted to, but the thought of the traffic congestion wouldn't let you.
  •
  • Take a walk, and buy Ice cream from your corner shop, or any shop (try KFC cone Ice cream, or Goodies in Ikoyi, or Victoria Island, they're better than those other ones, and they have GREAT quality).
  •
  • Play video games all day, and watch movies. Sleep, wake up, eat and start all over again.
Or, you could stay at home, lock up, and pretend that you travelled to the village so that you can have that long awaited rest, or, die of boredom.

PS: The above picture is a personal picture of Mother, my Brother, myself, and the tour guide/life guard in Whispering Palms Badagry. I thought I should share it with you this Blogmas.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Guys!

Meaning of Some Used Words:
Olokpa: Yoruba word for Police.
O Y O: On Your Own (general Nigerian slang). Ain't nobody gon' save you when you're O Y O. OYO is also a state in Nigeria, it's capital is Ibadan. They are two DIFFERENT names.
Agbaya: An older person that doesn't want "to act his age." He still loves to do childish things (Kai, I tried my best with this particular translation).
